This Week's Sunday School Lesson, "Called To Serve", Exodus 3:1-10, 9/22/2019

CALLED TO SERVE

Ex 3:1-10

GOD GETS OUR ATTENTION
Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 There the angel of the Lord  appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. 3 So Moses thought, "I will go over and see this strange sight — why the bush does not burn up."
A. God does not use lazy folk.
God calls into service those who are working and dedicated to
    their profession.
   1. For 40 years Moses has been the good shepherd.
   2. For the job God planed for us, He grows us to it.
   3. At 80 years old Moses met the God he had been taught
about by his Father In Law, a Midianite priest.

CALLED TO SERVE
V:4 When the Lord  saw that he had gone over to look, God
called to him from within the bush, "Moses! Moses!"
And Moses said, "Here I am."
1. God uses signs, miracles and circumstances to draw us to
    Himself.
2. For Moses, it was a bush on fire, that would not
    burn out.
3. Moses probably looked at the burning bush long enough to
    it should have burned out.
     4. It was probably strange for a bush to be on fire on the
    mountain.
5. It was even stranger to see a fire continue to burn without
   being refueled.
6. When God grabs our attention, we should be ready to listen.
B. We have no indication that Moses ever heard the voice of
God before, yet he responded, Here Am I.
1.    Let me suggest that Moses had been searching in his  heart
for this God that His wife’s family worshipped.
  2. God had prepared Moses heart to hear a Word from Him.
  3. It was an act of reverence and obedience for Moses to
respond to the voice of God.

A TALK WITH GOD
V:5 "Do not come any closer," God said. "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground." 6 Then he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob." At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.
A.   When studying the Word of God, the first thing we should
know is that wherever we gather with God is holy.
  1.  Our time with God is a special time.
  2. Our time with God is a privilege time.
  3. Our time with God is an enlighten time.
  4. Our time with God is a time of commitment.
  5. Our time with God is a spiritual time.
B. Our time with God is a time to learn the history of
     our heritage.
  1. God is not just God of our time, but the God of all
      time.
 2. God works his plan through men and women who serve
     Him.
B. When we go before God we must humble ourselves.
  1. When we study God’s Word it is a time to reverence
      Him.
  2. When we study God’s Word it is a time to believe what
       it says.
   3. When you study God’s word, we must believe that it
       applies to you.

GOD’S CONCERN FOR YOU
V:7 The Lord  said, "I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 8 So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey — the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.
A. God knows you current situation.
       1. He knows what you are going through.
2.    He always concerned about you.
3.    God hears your prayers.
a.    He may not act when you want Him, but He wiil come when it’s His time.
b.    God knows who is mistreating you and has a plan
    of vengeance.
c.    God will rescue you out of harmful situations.
4.    God has a place for you on earth that is currently held by
  someone else.
a.    God has a house for you.
b.   God has a job for you.
c.    God has your break through for you.
d.   God has whatever you need.

GOD HAS RESCUE PLAN FOR YOU
V:9-10. And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. 10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt."
A. Here I am Lord Send me.
    1. God has a mission for you.
    2. God has blessed you, so you can bless others
B. You may have been called to take a stand against
    injustice.
1.   You may have been called to speak out
for God’s righteousness.
2.   We all have been called to discipleship.
3.   We all have been called to proclaim the
Gospel of Jesus Christ.
4.   God’s commands to us are important to us and to
Others in the body of Christ.
5.   Our life on earth is not about us but about giving
God glory through service.
