What the world needs now is love sweet love

We live in a world of ever-increasing violence.

 

There were 7,759 reported hate crimes in the U.S. last year — the most in 12 years, the FBI reported this week. But some experts and advocacy groups say the true number is probably even higher.

The number of recorded bias incidents reported by the FBI was the highest since 2008 when 7,783 hate crimes were reported to the agency, federal data shows.

The spike in 2020 follows a recent upward trend in bias incidents, and it was a 6% increase over 2019.

Nearly two of every three hate crimes reported last year — 64% — were motivated by a bias against race, ethnicity, or ancestry, the FBI said. Of all hate crimes, 36% were anti-Black or anti-African-American, 10% were anti-white and 9% were anti-Jewish.

"As [the Anti-Defamation League] has said time and time again, when just one individual is targeted by a hate crime, it negatively impacts the entire community, resulting in marginalized groups rightfully feeling vulnerable and under siege," said ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt in a statement.

The FBI defines a hate crime as an offense that is motivated at least in part by a bias against a victim's race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender, or gender identity. When a country decides to annihilate the people of another country putting the lives of its people at risk it is motivated by hate.

 

When a man or woman decides to kill others to satisfy some hurt in

them is hate

 

This is nothing new. Hate crimes began when Cain killed Abel. It was motivated

by his parents, who disobeyed God’s first command.

 

The solution to hate is the Great peacemaker, Jesus Christ.

Jesus the author and creator of Love decided to step down out of heaven

to become our example of love.

 

We have always had this, but the world does not live according to love.

Going forward how do we instill love in this generation for generations

to come?

The value of love in the life of a human is defined as the main one. No matter who is the person, love always takes an important place in his or her life because love is defined as the most important subjective indicator of happiness. The opposite feeling of love is hate, and that feeling is associated with suffering. (from the internet).

At what age do you begin teaching Love?

Is showing love enough?

Is it more important to say love in addition to showing Love?

There is no doubt that saying “I love you” is important. It makes you and your partner feel good and reaffirms that you have a positive relationship. Sometimes people feel love and they want to say, “I love you,” but they are too scared. Even if your special someone hasn't said it, take heart, they might feel it.

This word seems to require explanation only in the case of its use by our Lord in his interview with "Simon, the son of Jonas," after his resurrection (John 21:16,17). When our Lord says, "Lovest thou me?" he uses the Greek word agapas

; and when Simon answers, he uses the Greek word

, i.e., "I love." This is the usage in the first and second questions put by our Lord, but in the third our Lord uses Simon's word. The distinction between these two Greek words is thus fitly described by Trench:, "Agapan has more of judgment and deliberate choice; philein has more of attachment and peculiar personal affection.

But why is love so important? Scientific studies have shown that being in love causes our body to release feel-good hormones and neuro-chemicals that trigger specific, positive reactions. Levels of dopamine, adrenaline, and norepinephrine increase when people are in love.

 

WHAT DOES THE WORD SAY ABOUT LOVE?

"The fulfilling of the law" (Romans 13:8,10), the prominent perfection of God (1 John 4:8,16), manifested to us (1 John 4:10) when we loved not Him (John 3:16). Passing our powers of knowledge

 

GOD’S LOVE CAN NOT BE FULLY EXPLAINED

Ephesians 3:18-19

, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God

 

LOVE IS EVERLASTING

Jeremiah 31:3

The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying:

"I have loved you with an everlasting love;

I have drawn you with loving-kindness.

 

 

LOVE IS FREE AND REWARDS

Hosea 14:4

"I will heal their waywardness

and love them freely,

for my anger has turned away from them.

 

LOVE ENDURING TO THE END

John 13:1

Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love.

LOVE CAN NOT BE SEPARATED FROM YOU

Romans 8:38-39

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We say we love. But what do we mean?

WHAT IS THE STANDARD OF LOVE?

God is Love.

Jesus is the standard of Love.

When we say we love, do we mean we love like God?

Jesus sacrificed His life for ours. Would you hang on the cross for another person?

Does God expect us to hang ourselves on the cross for another person? Of course,

the answer is no!

Christ died for the atonement of our sins. Your death would accomplish nothing.

Romans 5:7-8

Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die? 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

So what attributes of Love does God expect from us?

Matthew 22:37-40

37 Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

This seems simple. But what does it mean to love God with all of you?

According to what Jesus did on the cross, love is sacrificial, love is for the benefit of another

person. Love is an unselfish act. Love endures through trials and tribulations. Love never

ceases.

 

God gives us 16 characteristics of Love.

Adults have to practice this for children to see love in action.

This is SHOW AND TELL

 

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hope, and always perseveres. 8 Love never fails.

1 Corinthians 13:13

13 And now these three remain faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

 

Reflect on these verses in some way that is practical. For example, use

getting the wrong order at a restaurant to see how far we can get from this doctrine.

 

HOW DO YOU TEACH LOVE?

Say I love you often

We must remember that love is not a noun but a verb. We don’t sit on love,

we act on it.

1 John 3:18-20

Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. 19 This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence 20 whenever our hearts condemn us

1 John 5:3

This is love for God: to obey his commands.

 

HOW TO INSTILL LOVE IN A CHILD?

Say Love then show love

Parents, Grandparents, you are their SHOW AND TELL

Teach them to do acts of kindness, by showing acts of kindness

Teach them responsibility, by being responsible.

Live a Discipline life, discipline children when needed.

Teach them to respect their elders.

Teach them to respect themselves by doing what is right.

Teach them to respect their peers by being role models for rights.

Teach them to respect authority

Teach them to follow directions

Reward them for good behavior from time to time

Express your approval for the right

Express your disapproval of wrong

 

Explain that doing wrong has consequences

Let your kids experience the consequences of their actions

 

Give children chores to do daily

For example, let them start by keeping their room clean

Kids need to know that in life there is no free ride.

Let them earn your respect

 

Love involves trust

Trust is important in relationships because it allows you to be more open and giving. If you trust your partner, you are more likely to be forgiving of their shortcomings or behaviors that irritate you because overall you believe in them and know they have your back.

 

Trust in a relationship means you believe that your partner is reliable and has your best interests in their heart. It means you have faith and confidence in them. And you feel emotionally and physically safe with them, just as they do with you. (Internet).

 

 

If your children can’t trust what you say, they will disrespect you.

If you say you will punish them, do it.

Don’t make threats you are not prepared to carry out.

If you make a promise to them, keep it.

 

WHAT DOES THE WORD SAY ABOUT TRUST?

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding;

6 in all your ways acknowledge him,

and he will make your paths straight.

 

Live these verses so your children can see them in you.

Speak trust in your life situations before your children.

To know the Word and not practice the Word is useless.

GOD’S GRACE IS SUFFICIENT

 

2 Corinthians 12:1-10

 

BOAST IN THE LORD

V:1. Boasting is necessary, though it is not profitable; but I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord. 2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, God knows—such a man was caught up to the third heaven. 3 And I know how such a man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, God knows— 4 was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak

A.     According to the Clark commentary, Paul’s vision may have taken place

About the time Barnabas brought Paul from Tarsus to Antioch. 

Acts 11:25-26

1.     This would have been just prior to his first missionary journey.

2.     Paul used this vision to defend his Apostleship against false teachers

And Judaism.

 

B.     For the church, Paul was a living example of humbleness and meekness.

1.     Out of all of his accomplishments for Christ, he boasted about none.

2.     He was a Jew and a Roman citizen. Before his conversion to

Christianity, he was highly respected in the Jewish hierarchy. He was

Trained by the best Jewish teachers in the Law. Yet held none

Of this in high regards.

3.     According to the scriptures, he traveled more and established more

Churches outside of Jerusalem than any of the other apostles.

4.     He endured more persecutions than any of the others for Christ,

Yet continued to preach the Gospel.

5.     He wrote half of the books of the New Testament, putting the

complicated doctrine of Christianity in print for the world to

Read and study. Yet he only boasted in Jesus Christ.

C.     For fourteen years, He kept this heavenly communication with

The Lord to himself.  

1.     If I was going to boast about something, certainly a heavenly

Revelation from the Lord would be it.

2.     Paul was in dream or put into a trance for this communication

With Lord.

3.     Communication with Lord though dreams was not uncommon.

a.      Jacob had dream with Lord known as Jacob’s ladder.

b.     Joseph was a dreamer.

c.      Danial interpreted dreams of the king.

d.     Ezekiel was a dreamer.

e.      God revealed the details of all these dreams to us.

D.    Paul refused to tell us the details of his dream about heaven.

1.     There are 181 verses in the Old Testament about heaven.

2.     None of the Old Testament verses gives us any details about heaven.

3.      The things I am concerned about, in some way is usually                  

The focus of my dreams.

4.     Paul had a deep knowledge and understanding of the Old Testament

Scriptures may have been the focus of God’s revelation to him.

5.     It was in direct communication with Jesus on the road to Damasus

That Paul got his conversion.

6.     It was in a dream that God gave Paul directions to go to Macedonia

To preach the Gospel.

E.     What we know is Paul was taken up into the third heaven.

1.     The first heaven is thought to be what we can see with our eyes

Psalms 19:1

2.     The second heaven is thought to be the place of the angels;

Where Lucifer reigned before his fall.  Psalms 91:11

3.     The third heaven is the throne of God.    Hebrews 9:27

4.     What was revealed to Paul were words he was not permitted

To say to us.

5.     What was revealed to Paul may have been words to set his

Mission in motion and to keep him encouraged to the end.

6.     For me, if I don’t meditate on a dream immediately, it will

Be lost.

7.     This dream was so extraordinary that it was permanently

 ingrained in Paul’s memory.

 

 

REMAIN HUMBLE BEFORE MEN

V:5 On behalf of such a man I will boast; but on my behalf I will not boast, except in regard to my weaknesses. 6 For if I do wish to boast I will not be foolish, for I will be speaking the truth; but I refrain from this, so that no one will credit me with more than he sees in me or hears from me.

A.     Paul may have seen the throne of God in all its glory.

1.     He may have seen the angels of God around the throne

Giving praise.

2.     Whatever Paul saw was so magnificent that he could not

Express it in words.

3.     The conversation with Lord was so profound that Paul had

No doubt about his call and his mission.

4.     Throughout his ministry, Paul remained undisturbed by the

Jewish hierarchy, threats of violence, and the attempts to

Murder him.

B.     Paul was concerned that his reputation would be tarnished by

boasting.

1.     Paul related a closeness to the Father that no other Apostle

Could claim.

2.     The revelation from the Father humbled him in a way that

Kept him humble before men.

3.     Paul saw his mission as more important than himself.

4.     Paul had something to boast about but refused to boast for the

Sake of the church.

5.     Paul did not want men to see him as special. Rather he wanted to be

Seem as a servant of Christ.

6.     Paul understood the value of being humble.

Luke 14:11

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

 

GOD DESIGNS TROUBLE FOR YOUR GOOD

V:7 Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me—to keep me from exalting myself! 8 Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me. 9 And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness."

A.  God knows our hearts.

     1. He knows what it takes to keep us motivated in the ministry.

        a. Paul was given a revelation about God that far exceeded his

             imagination.

       b. The revelation had inspired him and given him much joy.

       c. It so joyous that he could hardly keep it to himself.

       d. He waited 14 years to reveal it to anyone, but only reveal

            that he had the revelation but not the details.

      e, It takes a strong mind to keep from revealing the source of

           your excitement.

B, God knows that we are weak in the flesh so He may give us a thorn

       To keep us humble.

1.     Paul does not tell us what thorn was, but it was painful enough

To repeatedly ask God to remove it.

2.     With great blessings come great problems to keep us humble

And dependent on God.

3.     Some afflictions we have are the will of God for our lives.

4.     We are encouraged to be thankful and in prayer.

Romans 8:28

 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

5.     The thorns we have while painful are sometimes for the benefit of others in the ministry.

 

 

GOD’S GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR ALL TROUBLE

V: 9 And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness."   Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 10 Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

A.  We may be never certain, why God allows us to experience trials

      And tribulations.

1.     But we can be certain is that God always in control.

2.     While we serve Jesus, we must remember His commands to

Us.

Luke 9:23

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

C.      God’s strength in us is perfected in our weakness

      Philippians 4:13

        I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

1.      Whatever we can do without Christ is limited.

2.      We will never live up to our full potential in our strength.

D.    Since God’s grace is sufficient and His grace is unlimited,

Therefore we cannot determine all we can do for Christ.

1.     We must trust His strength to get us through any

Situation.

2.      For God to perfect His strength in us we must first

See ourselves as weak.

3.     We must rely on God’s strength to take us to the heights

He has planned for us.

4.     Therefore, we must glory in God’s strength.

5.     When we boast, we must boast in Jesus Christ.

6.     We have no idea when the work God has planned for us

Is complete.

Philippians 1:6

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

 

 

I WILL BOAST IN THE LORD
