HOW TO LIVE A SATISFIED LIFE

Isaiah 55:1-3

V:1  "Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters;

and you who have no money, come, buy and eat!

Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

2 Why spend money on what is not bread,

and your labor on what does not satisfy?

Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,

and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.

3 Give ear and come to me;

hear me, that your soul may live.

I will make an everlasting covenant with you,

my faithful love promised to David.

It is my belief that everybody wants to be satisfied with

Their lives. I think everyone wants to feel they can handle

Life’s problems.  It is my belief that everyone wants to feel

They are in control. We want to be in control physically

And emotionally

Most of the time we put up a good front. All too often

People on the outside are fooled.

When we can’t handle things, we can get depressed.

Depression can be emotionally overwhelming.  We hear

Of too many successful people committing suicide.

There are many unnamed people who can’t handle

Life’s situations and see suicide as the only way to

Relieve the pain.

There are many who struggle with depression

And dissatisfaction with life that you never hear about.

Dissatisfaction can display itself in many other ways,

We make vain attempts to satisfy ourselves with

Money. Possessions, position, or prestige.

Other ways to satisfy is the excess use of alcohol, drugs

Pleasure or pride.  If we get satisfaction, it is short-lived.

The world sets us up to be dissatisfied. All you

Have to do is look at the products and services

That are advertised over and over again. You can

Become:

Dissatisfied with your weight

Dissatisfied with your diet

Dissatisfied with your exercised program

Dissatisfied with your clothes

Dissatisfied with the way you look

There are everyday problems we have to deal with; family, job

Career goals, bills.  All are reasons for dissatisfaction.

The world presents the perfect person. But the perfect person

Does not exist.

Behind the smiles could be someone crying on the inside for

Help.

According to Mental Health America

There are many risk factors that triggers mental health issues.

Here are a few examples:

·         Genetics. Mental illness often runs in the family.

·         Environment. Living in a stressful environment can make you more likely to develop a mental illness. Things like living in poverty or having an abusive family put a lot of stress on your brain and often trigger mental illness.

·         Childhood trauma. Even if you’re no longer in a stressful environment, things that happened to you as a child can have an impact later in life.

·         Stressful events: like losing a loved one, or being in a car accident.

·         Negative thoughts. Constantly putting yourself down or expecting the worst can get you stuck in a cycle of depression or anxiety.

·         Unhealthy habits: like not getting enough sleep, or not eating.

·         Drugs and alcohol: Abusing drugs and alcohol can trigger a mental illness. It can also make it harder to recover from mental illness.

·         Brain chemistry. Mental illness involves an imbalance of natural chemicals in your brain and your body.

We are bombarded with social expectations that may trigger

Mental problems.

What should a strong man or woman look like?

Many times we try to live up to the expectations of others.

We may set unrealistic expectations for ourselves.

What happens when we don’t measure up.

The world tries to convince us that we ought to look

A certain way, that we ought to think a certain way and

That we ought to be a certain way.

The world tries to convince us that we ought to be able

To handle everything by ourselves because we are strong in

Ourselves.

The world tries to convince us not to be satisfied unless

We are a picture of success.  It is all a lie.

We are all mental beings.

God has given us the right to joyful, to be sad, to be angry,

To be frustrated, to be disappointed. To be jealous, to be

Envious and to be satisfied.

We are all one step from a mental breakdown in one of

These areas.

The question is;

HOW DO YOU BE SATISFIED WITH YOURSELF?

Given all the pressures that you are under, how do

Find a balance that keeps you falling off the edge.

In the text, God gives us the way to be satisfied with life.

God Give Us Three Points To Mental Health, mental well being.

Look at the text again;

Isaiah 55:1-4

V:1 "Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters;

and you who have no money, come, buy and eat!

Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

2 Why spend money on what is not bread,

and your labor on what does not satisfy?

Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,

and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.

3 Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live.

I will make an everlasting covenant with you,

my faithful love promised to David.

SATISFY YOUR THIRST

V:1a "Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters;

and you who have no money, come, buy and eat!

A.   Before God gives grace, He gives a thirst for grace.

1.    Those who are thirsty, have a deep desire for

      Change.

1.    A deep desire for satisfaction

2.    A deep desire for inner peace

3.    . THIRST. A figure for unresting desire, setting us upon pursuit and effort. Thirsting man will spend himself in mad strivings.  thirsting is the more impressive figure of a man's condition. Everybody is eagerly wanting something

4.    Spiritual thirsting is different from worldly thirsting

5.    Spiritual thirsting is a deep desire for the joy of the Lord.

6.    A deep desire for the love of God

7.    A deep desire for His protection and provisions.

B.   Where do you come?

1.    The world will have you going in all directions.

2.    The world has no final destination.

3.    The world is chasing the next idea.

4.    You come to the Lord for satisfaction.

5.    You come to the Lord because He does not change.

6.    You come to the Lord because He is always available

7.    You come to the Lord because He has all you need.

THE REASON YOU COME

V:1b Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

A.   Wine represents the Holy Spirit

1.    Milk represents the living Word.

2.    We come to the Lord for His knowledge

And the power of the Holy Spirit.

B.   Notice it cost us nothing, but it cost Jesus everything

1.    You can’t buy the Lord, but you can submit your

Self to Him

2.    You cannot get access to the power of the Holy Spirit

Without accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

C.   You cannot apply the power of the Word in your life

Without constant study and meditation.

1.    It is the constant study and meditation of the Word

That provides the richness of life.

2.    Without the Word, we are spiritually bankrupt.

3.    With the Word is an abundance of God’s grace and

Mercy.

4.    With the Word comes inter satisfaction.

SATISFY YOUR HUNGER

V:2a Why spend money on what is not bread,

and your labor on what does not satisfy?

A.  Jesus is the bread of life

1.    We need to get full on Jesus before anything else.

2.    Once you are full, you don’t have an appetite for

Anything else.

3.    We need to start each day with the menu Jesus provides.

B.   We are quick to buy some expensive exercise

Equipment or join a gym.

1.    We are quick to subscribe to diet program

And pay good money.

2.    I am not knocking exercise or diet. We should

Exercise and we should diet.

3.    Exercise and diet will not provide satisfaction

a.    It is not bread. It is not the Word of God.

4.    We are quick to pursue jobs, houses, investments

All sorts.

5.    We are slow to feed the spirit and the soul.

6.    Satisfaction comes from within, not from the outside.

7.    Satisfaction comes from the heart, not physical

Strength, or body proportions.

8.    Satisfaction does not come from the amount of stuff

You accumulate.

9.    Satisfaction comes from a relationship with the Lord

SATISFY YOU SOUL

V:2b Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,

and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.

A.  The only thing good is the Word of God.

1.    Everything else is full of falsehoods.

2.    Mark 10:18

"Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good — except God alone.

B.   We are commanded to listen to the Word and diligently

And Seek an understanding.

1. We have the Word. The question is do you understand

How to apply it to your life situations?

3.    When you eat food it goes into the stomach and is

Digested.

4.    Food goes into the bloodstream and nourishes

Every cell in the body.

5.    When you study the Word of God you digest it into

The soul.

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.

6.     The soul is the seat of your emotions. That is the mental part

Of you

If you don’t feed the soul, Satan will

7.    From the soul comes a realization of the richness of life.

8.    When you look at what God has done and is doing

You find satisfaction

THE PROMISE OF A SATISFIED LIFE

3 Give ear and come to me;

hear me, that your soul may live.

I will make an everlasting covenant with you,

my faithful love promised to David.

A.  God commands us to listen to the Word and draw

Near to Him.

1.    To Hear the Word we have to study and meditate.

2.    We have to apply the Word to our lives

3.    We must focus on feeding the soul as much as we

Feed the body.

4.    The soul lives on the Word

5.    Satisfaction comes from the soul.

B.   God promises His love for us when we satisfy the

Soul with His righteousness.

1.    Everlasting life is promised by God.

2.    God will keep His promises.

SATIFACTION COME WHEN YOUR PERSONAL LIFE, LINES UP
