Bible Study Series: Who Are We?

WHO ARE WE

NEW WAY OF CHURCH

We are having Church services on zoom. So who are we? Many of the

Church members don’t show up for Sunday Service, Sunday School or

Bible Study classes on multi media. It concerned me for a while until

I considered our situation. The Church as we know it has been shut down,

That is worship in buildings.

Who are we? We are the restart group. We are the church with out wall.

You can’t contain God in a building. He is the hearts of every

believer.

We must remember before Jesus was born in the flesh, Israel was having

worship services. They worship in the Synagogues every Saturday.

However, their worship was without power or spiritual knowledge.

POWER AND AUTHORITY      

Matt 22:29-30

Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.

Jesus was responding to the experts in the Law (first 5 books of the Bible).

   

Luke 4:36-37

All the people were amazed and said to each other, "What is this teaching? With authority and power he gives orders to evil spirits and they come out

DON’T NEED BUT A FEW BELIEVERS

Who are we, the Church Zoomer?  We are the restart of the

Church with power.

Jesus restarted worship with 12 people. He taught them the correct way

of applying and interpreting scripture.  Those few disciples changed the world.

THE CLEAN GROUP

Who are we? We are the clean group.

John 15:3

Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

Every time you and I come zooming together with the Word,

we are cleaned. Cleaned by the Word in Sunday School. Cleaned by

Word from the Pastors Sermon. Cleaned by the Word in Wednesday

Night Bible study.

GROUP IN TRAINING

Who are we? We are the group in training.

Jesus spent 3 ½ years training His disciples and teaching them the

Word of God.  He was getting them ready for a new way of doing

Church.

 

Titus 2:1-2

You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine. 2 Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.

    

Titus 2:3-5

3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.

EXPLOSION IN MINISTRY

I believe the Lord is getting us ready for a new explosion in ministry.

Who are we? We are the power group. We have access to Jesus who has all power

    

Matt 28:18

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

That is what we must remember is, God is in control of this pandemic.

God grace and mercy has not shut down. He is still in the Love business. 

THE FILLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Who are we? We are the group that is going to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

On the day of Pentecost, 120 people were filled with Holy Spirit.

   

Acts 2:3-4

And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave  them utterance.

We all have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. It is the filling of the Holy Spirit that gives us power to be God’s witnesses and do miracles in the name of Jesus.

We should desire the filling of the Spirit, because it comes with the best God’s has for us.

Once filled with Holy Spirit, the once weaken and fearful Peter preached  his first sermon and 3000 were saved. Preached his second sermon and

another 2000 we saved.

THE LOVE GROUP

Who are we? We are the love group.

   

Mark 12:30-31

30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

It takes the filling of the Holy Spirit to fulfill these commands.

GOD’S GLORY

Who are we? We are God’s glory group.

    

John 17:22-23

 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one:  I in them and you in me.

    

Luke 2:14

14 "Glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

GIVE GOD PLEASURE

Who are we.   We are God’s pleasure

   

Luke 10:21

I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.

God is getting us prepared for a new explosion in Christian growth.

After the book of Malachi, the last book in the Old Testament,

God didn’t speak to man through a prophet for 400 years.

THE CONSOLIDATION OF THE WORD

The books of the Old Testament were collected, completed

And preserved during that time. We have evidence that the

Old Testament was completed 300 years before the birth

Of Christ.

The knowledge of God didn’t ceased to exist during the 400

years when there was no prophet. In fact the belief in God

was strengthen through a core group of Jews with the

Jewish Synagogues emerging as the local places of worship

outside of the temple in Jerusalem.  

This pandemic is forcing us to do Church in a different way.

Perhaps we Church Zoomers are the ones God is using to

Preserve the traditions of Church and the love for Him,

during this pandemic, until we reemerge as a better Church.
