This Week's Sunday School Lesson, "The Honor To Worship The Lord", Exodus 12:29-42, 11/3/2019

THE HONOR TO WORSHIP GOD

Ex 12:29-42

TERROR IN THE MIDNIGHT HOUR
V:39-30. At midnight the Lord  struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock as well. 30 Pharaoh and all his officials and all the Egyptians got up during the night, and there was loud wailing in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead.
A. God has a way of getting the most harden unbeliever
to call on Him for mercy.
  1. Your unbelief does not change God’s plans for your life.
  2. God has the power to get the attention of an entire
      nation at one time.
  3. God killed the entire first born of every Egyptian family
      all at the same time.
   4. God is no respecter of person. No family of Egypt was
       left unaffected by death.
    5. All of us will leave this world through death.
B. The plague of death came at the midnight hour.
    1. Israel stated a new life of freedom on a new day.
    2. Israel was blessed with salvation on a new day.
    3. Night time is the most fearful time.
    4. Night time added to the trauma of grieving the
lost of their sons made the event more fearful.
    5. God’s plan inflicts the most terror on your enemies.
  6. We have to wait until God executes His plan.

FORCED TO DO GOD’S PLAN
V:31-32 During the night Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, "Up! Leave my people, you and the Israelites! Go, worship the Lord  as you have requested. 32 Take your flocks and herds, as you have said, and go. And also bless me."
A. Before the Lord, everyone has a breaking point.
    1. God can strike fear in the bravest of souls.
    2.  The Pharaoh complied with all of the commands of
God in letting Israel leave Egypt.
B. To get our attention God can do much worst than we can
     conceive.
    1. Through the 10 plagues, Pharaoh came to know the power
         of God.
     2. The last plague of death was Pharaoh’s breaking point.
     3. Not only did Pharaoh come to believe in God, but he
asked to be blessed by God.
C. When God delivers you, He will not leave you empty handed.
     1. Israel was allowed to go into freedom with all they had
         obtained in slavery.
     2. The Pharaoh commanded that Israel leave and go
           worship their God.
     3. For the moment, the Pharaoh accepted his defeat
         by the Almighty God.
With God on your side there is victory.

GOD OPENS DOORS
V:33-24 The Egyptians urged the people to hurry and leave the country. "For otherwise," they said, "we will all die!" 34 So the people took their dough before the yeast was added, and carried it on their shoulders in kneading troughs wrapped in clothing. 35 The Israelites did as Moses instructed and asked the Egyptians for articles of silver and gold and for clothing.
A. When God opens a door for you, be prepared to walk
through it.
1. Don’t worry about what you are leaving, look forward to
     where you are going.
2. Following God’s instructions is the way to success.
3. God knows what’s ahead of you.
4. God hold your future in His hands.
5. Trust God in good and bad times.
B. God will favor you with more than you can ask or conceive.
    1. God will fix the heart of your enemy to bless you with
         the riches they have.
    2. God has treasures stored up for those who are faithful to
         him.
    3. God provides for our needs as we have need.
    4. For 430 years, Israel was kept together as they grew
        in numbers in slavery.
    5. At the right time, God released Israel from slavery to began
the journey to the land He promised to Abraham.
    6. God’s timing is not our timing, but His is always on time.
    7. We must learn to be patient as God answers our prayers.

GOD CAN USE YOUR ENEMY TO BLESS YOU
V:36-39. The Lord  had made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people, and they gave them what they asked for; so they plundered the Egyptians. 37 The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Succoth. There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children. 38 Many other people went up with them, as well as large droves of livestock, both flocks and herds. 39 With the dough they had brought from Egypt, they baked cakes of unleavened bread. The dough was without yeast because they had been driven out of Egypt and did not have time to prepare food for themselves.
A. Starting with Jacob and his family, God grew a nation.
    1. 600,000 men plus women and Children, was the number
that came out of Egypt. It could have been close to 2
million people (If every man had a wife and 2 children,
the number would have been 2.4 million ).
    2. In 2017, the population of Houston Texas was 2.3
        million.
    3. What if everyone in Houston decided to leave at
         once.
         a. How would you get all the people out of the city?
         b. How would you control the traffic?
         c. How would you feed all the people?
         d. How would you maintain order.
         4. The God we serve did just that with two leaders;
              Moses and Aaron.
B. God has a plan of salvation that covers the entire world’s
    population.
     1. Daily. everyone is cared for.
     2. God knows everyone by name.
     3. No one gets out of God’s sight.

EVERY THING WORKS IN GOD’S TIME
V:40-42. Now the length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt was 430 years. 41 At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the Lord 's divisions left Egypt. 42 Because the Lord  kept vigil that night to bring them out of Egypt, on this night all the Israelites are to keep vigil to honor the Lord  for the generations to come.
A. Jesus said;
John 6:39
And this is the will of him who sent me that I shall lose none of
all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.
1. The Lord keeps watch over us.
2. We will come to the place that He has planned before
    the foundation of the earth.
     3. God protects us as He grows us to serve His purposes.
4. It is God’s command that we honor Him with our lives.
     5. He has saved us for His purpose and glory.
6. We should remember with thanksgiving what God
has done to free us from the devils hands.
