YOU ARE GOD'S WORKMANSHIP Exodus 3-15

 YOU ARE GOD’S WORKMANSHIP

                           Exodus 3:8-10

All of us have ancestors that in some way  shaped our lives. We are not here because we deserve to be here, but because God made it possible for us to do what we do and have what we have. If you look back

Over your life, you will probably find something or somethings that happen to place you in the position that you are.

Jeremiah 29:11-12

11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

God has a plan for you that includes work, hardships for growth, hope and a future where you will prosper. Prosperity in the Lord is peace, joy and love. In all that you do, do it in the name of the Lord.

GOD’S PLAN FOR MOSES

Exodus 3:8

So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey

Exodus 3:10

So now, go. I am sending you (Moses) to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt."

The story of Moses is a good example of God's plan at work that started

With a promise made to his ancestors. It all started with Abraham who

God called out of Ur and was told to go to a land we now know as the

Promised land which includes the modern day Israel.

Genesis 15:18-21

On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, "To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates —  19 the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, 20 Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, 21 Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites."

The land was a promise to the nation of Israel. The descendants includes

All believers all around the world. You are God’s workmanship

Ephesians 2:10

For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

There are four points worth considering in this text  (Exodus 3-15)

  1. Your life is part of God’s master plan

  2. There are stages of development in the life God planned for you

  3. Respond to God when He calls you and you will be blessed.

  4. Used what you got and trust God to make His plan for you

work and be successful.

God promised Abraham that the land would be the inheritance of his

Descendants. God also promised Abraham that his descendants would

Grow up as slaves 400 years in a foreign land which was Egypt. Abraham

great grandson Jabob and His 11 sons went to Egypt to avoid a famine

Where one of his younger son Joseph was already there as second in

Command to the Pharaoh.  Over the course of the 400 years the Israelites

Grew to 2 million plus people (Exodus 12:3).

EDUCATION AND SECULAR TRAINING

A new Pharaoh decided to kill all male Hebrew babies to stop the growth of

God’s chosen nation. Moses was born to a Hebrew slave who placed the baby In a basket that was discovered by the Pharaoh’s daughter  and was raised by her. He spent the first 40 years of his life being trained and educated as an Egyptian. He could not escape the fact that he was a Hebrew and his family were slaves.

Moses had 3 three major stages in his life.

Ist Stage  ACCEPTING HIS IDENTITY

His first life changing event occurred at  40 years old when he killed an Egyptian who was fighting one of his Hebrew relatives. Fearing being

Discovered he fled across the desert 200 miles to Midian where He settled

As a shepherd for 40 years under the guidance of a Midianite priest

You are a child of God and have a responsibility to serve and worship Him.

Sometimes God has to shake us up to show us who we are. Moses was

Not an Egyptian who worshipped many idol gods. He needed an event to force him to embrace his Hebrew heritage. He needed the event to separate him from the Egyptian enemy. He needed an event to start his

Journey toward the Lord.

God uses events in our lives to force us from a life of slavery to sin to an

Eternal life with Him. Look back over your life see where you began to

Seek the Lord.

2nd stage RESPONDING TO GOD’S CALL

Moses' second life change event happened at 80 years old when he was tending his flock  at the back side of  Mount Sanai. He saw a burning bush that was not consumed by fire  and decided to check it out. He met God for

Himself calling out to him from the burning bush. I am sure he had heard

About God from His father in Law the Midianite priest. To hear the voice

Of God at the mountain communicating His plan was life changing.

At the mountain, God commissioned Moses  to bring the Israelites

Out of slavery to prepare them for the land that was promised to Abraham’s

Descendants. God’s Plan for Moses was to go to the Pharaoh of Egypt

And convince him to free Israel.

Exodus 3:7-8

7 The Lord said, "I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 8 So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey

Exodus 3:10

So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt."

God sees. God hears and God acts on your behalf to bring relief to your

Situation. Notice God heard their prayers ,as He hears yours.

3rd stage USE WHAT YOU GOT AND TRUST GOD TO MAKE IT WORK

Moses, like most of us, was reluctant to accept the assignment. He made several excuses as to why he was not qualified. He was a nobody and would not be listened to by the Pharaoh or Israel. God showed Moses his

Power over nature and the objects of the earth.

Exodus 4:1-5

Moses answered, "What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, 'The Lord did not appear to you'?" 2 Then the Lord said to him, "What is that in your hand?"  "A staff," he replied. 3 The Lord said, "Throw it on the ground."

Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and he ran from it. 4 Then the Lord said to him, "Reach out your hand and take it by the tail." So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand.

The staff represented the power of God, the presents of God, the protection of God and the refuge in God. For those who have little faith, God shows himself in miraculous ways that increase their faith.

God expects us to use the training, education and experience we have gained for His glory.  The 40 years of education prepared Moses to

Know the Egyptian ways and thinking. The 40 years of leading sheep

Prepared Moses to lead Israel out of Egypt.

The Fourth Stage STUDY GOD’S WORD AND PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

After the ten plague on Egypt and the parting of the Red sea, Moses

Was ready to lead Israel in the desert for 40 years.  Israel was led to

Mount Sanai where God came down and gave Moses His commandments

And the first 5 books of the Old Testament. Because of Israel unbelief

Moses led them in the desert for 40 years until everyone 20 years or older died and a new generation was born. Moses' job was finished and successful.

Numbers 14:28-30

'As surely as I live, declares the Lord, I will do to you the very things I heard you say: 29 In this desert your bodies will fall — every one of you twenty years old or more who was counted in the census and who has grumbled against me.

When your job is complete God will take you home to be with Him. We are

Not expected to complete God’s plan but be an instrument in His plan. He

Has someone else to step in when you have completed your mission.

Deuteronomy 34:7-8

Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone. 8 The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over.

The Plan for Moses life started with a promise God made to Abraham, his

Ancestor.  You may never know what promises God made to your ancestors that governed your life. You may never know the prayers people

Have prayed for you. But know for sure God has been involved with you from birth.
