GOD LOVES TALKING TO YOU Genesis 11

 GOD LOVES TALKING WITH YOU

Genesis 11:1-9

11 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. 2 As men moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there.

3 They said to each other, "Come, let's make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. 4 Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth."

5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building. 6 The Lord said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."

8 So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel — because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

NIV

God is the greatest communicator. He is the author of language. He communicated first with angels then with man his prized creation.  We don’t know what the language of angels is or the language God spoke to Adam and Eve. What we do know He took pleasure communicating with Adam and Eve in the cool of the evening,

Man became so sinful that God destroyed all mankind in the flood and restarted a community In righteousness with Noah and his family. God does not tell us what the language was for Noah and his family. What we do know is God communicates clearly with the righteous.

After the covenant God made with Noah  of not destroying mankind  by  water again, He commanded Noah to be fruitful and populated the earth.  (Genesis 9:7).  What we know Is man had a common language.

MAN WITHOUT GOD WILL DESTROY HIMSELF

339 Years later (according to Our Ancient Path) man decided to stop wondering and build a tower that reached the heavens and make a name for themselves. They started in Turkey and spread south east

To Shiner (Genesis 11:1)  which is in Babylon  the enemy which in later years would destroy Israel This act of disobedience would cost the nation later. The word Babel means confusion and also gateway to the gods

As man grew into nations, their creative skills increased to match their desires. Noah built an Ark out of wood covered inside and out with tar. This new generation built a tower out of brick With tar as the mortar . The difference is the Ark was God designed to save man but the tower

Was man designed to reject God .  The Ark was built out of obedience to God, but Tower was built out of hatred to God.

THERE IS UNSTOPPABLE POWER IN UNITY

5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building. 6 The Lord said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.

The Key to power is people with the same goals, the same aspirations working together to achieve a common objective. Don’t know what the language was but they all agreed to reject God’s command.

Man attitude changed between the time the people left Noah’s Ark and the building of the Tower of Babel.  Let me suggest some things that may have

Happened.

  1. It was 339 years between the time of Ark and the building of the Tower

  2. They hated God’s travel plan

  3. A new generation was born who did not know Noah or God

  4. The events of the flood and the mercy of God was not taught

  5. They came to Shinar a plain in Babylon where idol gods were worshipped

  6. They developed an attitude of pride wanting to make a name for themselves

  7. They planned and built a tower to the heavens for their glory

  8. Having rejected God, there was no accountability

God shows the Church that we can control the world if we all come together in the righteousness of God following the plan of God. Evil men control the world because they all have in common the lust of the eye, lust of the flesh and the pride of life. They work hard to destroy anyone who don’t believe in their schemes .

EVIL MEN MAKES PLANS BUT GOD CAN FRUSTRATE THEM ALL

Man cannot change or alter the plan of God. God’s plan was made without man’s input and carried out with man as He sees fit. The men who God created and allowed growth and prosperity decided to reject Him to show their pride and glory by building a tower to despise Him.

God knows what it takes to destroy our plans and bring us down to earth. The problem was their Hatred of God and their unity in pride. God hates the proud and in due time crush them but with Love and mercy,

GOD’S PLAN TO DESTROY PRIDE AND ENFORCE MERCY

7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."

8 So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel — because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

God has a way to let us now He is in control. The problem was unified pride. The solution was to confused their languages so they could not

Communicate with each other and scatter them across the earth.

What takes man years to build, God destroyed in a moment. The group

Was no longer unified, but scattered groups with different languages,

They no longer had the power or desire to build a tower,

God can easily change our situations and give new more pressing problems to contend with. The individual groups with different languages

Had to learn to community in their language. They were forced on a new

Journey in new places.

God has a way of making us focus on what's important. God can confuse your mind so you don’t know who you are.  Communication

With God is important. Unity with God is important.. Even though God was

Upset.  He acted with love and mercy.

Instead of destroying the people, He gave them another chance

God looked and saw Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He saw David. He saw

saw Israel. He saw Jesus dying on the cross.  He saw His own people. The Lord saw us, the Church.

They were south east of the land that God planned a nation for them. Some would have to travel north west to enter the land God would promised to Israel. Man sees today and what he wants, but God sees the entire plan of life from eternity Past to eternity future at one time, all the time.

Jeremiah 29:11-12

11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you

Any attempt to block God’s plan for your life is to block future blessings for you and your descendants. God knows we are going to mess up, make wrong decisions and be disobedient.

According to Jeremiah 29:11, God has prepared a way for us to get back to Him through prayer.

Let’s talk about the importance of prayer. Work without God is human possibilities. Work with God is unlimited possibilities. This new group of people just out of the Ark started with righteousness of Noah. As they

Traveled the earth and multiplied, that soon forgot the God that helped

Them survived the flood. Without God they became hateful and prideful.

In fact in the garden that Noah planted, sin began again. Noah got drunk

With wine and laid naked in the garden. His younger son Ham saw his fathers nakedness and told others. As a result  Cannan the son of

Ham’s generation was cursed( Genesis 9:25).

There are two themes that run throughout the Bible, Righteousness and

Sin. Righteousness will always win.  If you look at the time line, Abraham

Might have spent time with Noah when he was around 10 years old

(According to Our Ancient Path web site)  There was no brake in the

Communication of God. The new Generation out Noah’s Ark chose

To be disobedient.

Prayer is an encounter with God. Prayer does not eliminate problems

But gives you the strength to endure them. Communicating with God

Through prayer is our life line

Prayer is not a thank you Jesus moment for a blessing. That is an

Encounter with God with no substance. We must develop an attitude of prayer that keeps us attuned with God’s divine directions and wisdom.

Surviving the flood  was an encounter with God’s love and compassion.

The God that saved them became  the God they hated. Why? Because there was no prayer.

Three things are required for prayer to become apart of your life

  1. You have to make a commitment to prayer.

None of this I don;t have time, you make time for what you want to do

  1. You must make prayer with the almighty God a priority.

I am sure eating is a priority. For some exercise is a priority

The beauty shop, and the barbershop is a priority.

 Your job is a priority

None of this is possible without God.

  1. Knowledge of the Benefit of prayer

  1. Prayer puts you in position with God to use you

God has a good work for you

  1. Prayer opens the door to blessings

God can do exceedingly abundantly more than you can ask or conceive

  1. Prayer puts you in the presence of God

He comforts you in times of trouble

He shields you from the evil deeds of the world

He heals you when the doctors have given up

He promised to never leave you or forsake you

He got a mansion prepared for you in heaven

The God we serve loves communicating with us. He gave us the command

To pray without ceasing.
