Trouble In Paradise Genesis 3:14-4:20

 TROUBLE IN PARADISE

Genesis 3:14-4:20

Genesis 3:14-4:9

14 So the Lord God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this,

"Cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."

16 To the woman he said,

"I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."

17 To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,'

"Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. 18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are to dust you will return."

20 Adam named his wife Eve because she would become the mother of all the living.

21 The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. 22 And the Lord God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." 23 So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

INTRODUCTION

Adam and Eve were disobedient to the one command that God

Gave them.  They ate from the forbidden fruit of The Tree Of Knowledge Of Good and Evil. Their disobedient introduced sin

Into God’s perfect creation. Adam blamed Eve for his sin and Eve

Blamed Satan for her sin.

The Lord we serve is a just God. He punished all who were  involved

In this world-changing event. We never know how our sin affects others around us. Sin is an act of disobedience and a selfish act that

Satisfies for a moment, our personal lusts without regard to the effect on others. Sin displeases God.

God is no respecter of person. Sin requires punishment. Notice

God started with the perpetator of sin, the fallen angelic being, Satan.

He is what Ephesians 6:12 calls the spiritual wickedness in high places. He succeeded in his purpose to destroy man's fellowship with God. Satan started with fellowship but he intends relationship. He wanted the sure death of Adam and Eve.

Notice in Genesis 3:1, God does not refer to Satan as a fallen angelic

Being.  He was created as the Day star, son of the dawn (Isa 14:12). God refers to Satan in Genesis as a beast of the field He created. God does not tell us, but it appears to me that Satan a cherub before the fall was created to be the Angelic being who would bring sin into His creation because of pride.

Genesis 3:14-15

So the Lord God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this,

"Cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.

15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman,

and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head,

and you will strike his heel."

Sin puts a curse on your life

Sin causes a change in your status

From Guardian Cherub to the fall to earth to crawling on the

           ground

Sin marks you for eternal death

Sin is a prideful war against God

Sin introduced the need for a sin-bearer, none other than Jesus

       Christ

THE CONTINUAL PUNISHMENT FOR SIN

Genesis 3:17

 To the woman he said,

"I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing;

with pain you will give birth to children.

Your desire will be for your husband,

and he will rule over you."

God instituted  parenthood, a family unit for mankind

God established sexual intercourse and pain in childbirth

God activated the female ability to bear children

God activated the physical intimate desire for sex

God established male as the head of the household

Genesis 3:17-19

To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,'

"Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.

18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.

MAN MADE THE RESPONSIBLE PROVIDER

Man was designated the provider of the family and the head of the household

The ground was cursed with hardness

Man was cursed with harsh labor

The lush fields were cursed with edible and nonedible plants

Man was made a vegetarian

DEATH MADE THE END OF LIFE FOR MAN

19 By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food

until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken;

for dust you are and to dust you will return."

God’s grace and mercy abound forever. Instead of killing man

Immediately because of his sin, He gave him a new start and a

Chance for restoration. Physical death was established, but man was given a chance to reverse the eternal death sentence.

THANK GOD FOR JESUS OUR LORD AND SAVIOR

THE PRECIOUS GIFT OF MOTHERHOOD

Genesis 3:20-24

20 Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.

It was only after being cursed by God that Adam gave Eve her name

As Adam named the all animals, he named his help mate Eve

God introduced two new terms; wife and Eve

The Hebrew word for Eve is charrrah which means life-giver.

The Hebrew word for wife is Ishahah which means able to bear children. but also adulter. The woman was first to choose her lust over God’s Command.

The woman was given the added distinction of being the life-giver, the mother of all living, and the wife under the rule of Adam. She was given the desire to have sex.

Notice Adam was made the head of the household. Without a head

Eve made a decision and acted on her own being deceived by Satan.

She cast the first stone into the fiery furnace of hell.

Having been made ashamed of their sexuality because of their sin, God gave them the desire to have sex which fulfilled His plan to

Multiply and populate the earth (Genesis 1:28)

Have you ever wondered why boys and girls, men and women have the natural desire to have sex?  It came from God. Notice this

Desire for sex was given in the Garden of Eden, but put into action outside in their new environment.   The purpose was to

Populated the earth.

Notice the punishment for sin varies for each person. I suggest that

God designs punishments for each individual to make them realize

The severity of their sin and to draw them back to Him

GOD’S GRACE AND MERCY ABOUND FOREVER

21 The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.

God made the first animal sacrifice for a covering of the sin of man.

What animal did God sacrifice to provide the skin for a covering?

God does not tells us. But let me suggest a lamb not more than a year old. Jesus is our sacrificial lamb for sin. He is our sin bearer.

Jesus covers our sin with His blood shed on the cross

Exodus 12:5-6

The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats.

Hebrews 9:28

Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

Our hope, peace and joy is based on the sure promise of Jesus return to take us in to paradise to live eternal life with Him.

Romans 8:38-39

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

GOD CLOSES DOORS AND OPENS OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

22 And the Lord God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." 23 So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

God made us in His own image and likeness and gave us the free

Will to make decisions. When we make decision on our own without

Consulting God. we are likely to make the wrong decision. The

Unbeliever will always steer you in a direction away from God.

After eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good And Evil, all mankind is born with the ability to know right from wrong and good

From evil.

Romans 1:20

For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

GOD’S MERCY

To keep us from continuing on the path of destruction, God will close

Doors and allow hardships into our lives.

The door to the Garden of Eden was closed. The days of paradise

Was over. Inside the Garden was the Tree of Life. If Adam and Eve

Were left in the Garden after their sin, they would have eaten from

The Tree of Life and be doomed forever without the ability to be

Redeemed.

GOD’S GRACE

24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

You can look at that scripture two ways, negative and positvely,

I prefer to see that God left the light on to guide Adam and Eve

Back to Him. They may have passed by the Garden time to time

And was reminded what sin cost them. I am sure they were reminded

Of how good God was.

We can’t get to the Garden of Eden physically, but we are there

Spiritually with Christ.

God has equipped us with full armor to get back to the Tree Of Life

It is through our life’s experiences on earth that prepare us for the

Journey to the Tree.

Jesus is the light of the world. He guides us to the tree of life.

Our life’s mission is to get back to the Tree Of Life.

Acts 4:12

12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

John 6:35-36

35 Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

Revelation 2:7

To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

ADAM AND EVE RESTORED TO FELLOWSHIP

Genesis 4:1-2

4 Adam lay with his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, "With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man." 2 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel.

God ripened all the internal activities of Adam and Eve’s bodies to

Allow conception and the production of a child.

Eve realized, that her fertility was not based on her or Adam but based on God’s grace.

Notice her faith increased after she had her first son. When we experience what God has done in our lives we ought to give

Him praises and worship. God inhabited her praise and gave

Her another son.

I believe that the fellowship that was lost in the Garden of Eden

Was reestablished outside the Garden. Adam and Eve followed God

Command to bring children into the world. It is obviously that they

Continued their sexual activities bringing  many children and families

Into the world.

God is good all the time. You may have some hardships in your life,

But God blesses you to endure them. He is good all the time.
