PROGRAMED TO SERVE GOD
Ex 2:11 -25
DON’T DO STUPID
V:11-13. One day, after
Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them
at their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own
people. 12 Glancing this way and that and seeing no
one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. 13 The next day he went out and saw two
Hebrews fighting. He asked the one in the wrong, "Why are you hitting your
fellow Hebrew?"
A. God has a job assignment
for every believer.
1. 400 years before Moses
was born, God promised
Abraham that his descendants would be
enslaved,
but He would deliver them.
2. Moses was chosen for the
task the moment the promise
was made.
B. Before the foundation of
the world, God chose us
to the mission of building the body of
Christ.
1. Each one of us has been gifted to serve
God.
2. No one was chosen to be a spectator.
C. Moses was trained and
educated by the Egyptians
because of his adopted mother.
1. Moses never forgot who he was.
2. He never used the privileges God gave him
as an
excuse not to serve his Hebrew brothers.
D. When Moses saw an
Egyptian mistreating his Hebrew
brother, He jumped in the
middle of the fight and
killed him.
1.
Moses was obviously trained
to fight.
Impulsively, he got involved
without asking questions.
2. Moses took off his Egyptian mentality and
put on his
Hebrew heritage.
3. Instead of using his influence and
training to reconcile
and bring peace to the situation, Moses
became
confrontational and violent.
D. Moses knew he was wrong,
and tried to hide his sin.
1. He buried the Egyptian he killed to hide
evidence
of his actions.
2. Moses thought no one was looking and his
sin
was covered.
3. You can’t fool God. What you do in the
dark will come
to the light.
YOUR OWN PEOPLE MAY DISPISE YOU
POSITION
V:14-16. The man said,
"Who made you ruler and judge over us? Are you thinking of killing me as
you killed the Egyptian?" Then Moses was afraid and thought, "What I
did must have become known."
15 When Pharaoh
heard of this, he tried to kill Moses, but Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to
live in Midian, where he sat down by a well. 16 Now a priest of Midian had seven daughters,
and they came to draw water and fill the troughs to water their father's flock.
A. Moses impulsive behavior
cost him his privileged position.
1. Impulsive behavior is destructive.
2. Impulsive behavior is emotion driven.
3. Impulsive behavior is unplanned and not
well thought-out.
4. Impulsive behavior is irrational.
B. God used Moses impulsive
behavior to move him to
The next step of his development.
1.
He ran because he was
afraid.
2.
He ran because he didn’t
have a relationship with God.
3.
At 40 years old, Moses was
not ready to be a leader.
4.
Moses needed some cool down
time.
5.
Moses, without knowledge ran
to the place where God
wanted him to be
6.
God allowed Moses
foolishness to get him moving to
the next stage of his
development.
USE YOUR GIFTS TO SERVE
OTHERS
V:17-19. Some shepherds came along and
drove them away, but Moses got up and came to their rescue and watered their
flock.
18 When the girls
returned to Reuel their father, he asked them, "Why have you returned so
early today?"
19 They answered,
"An Egyptian rescued us from the shepherds. He even drew water for us and
watered the flock."
A. Moses still in his Egyptian fighter
mode, stepped in to help
the women that were being mistreated.
1. God arranged for Moses to be at the place and at the time
the daughters of the Midianite Priest were at the well to
draw water.
2. In addition, God arranged for the herdsmen to be at the
well mistreating the women so Moses could show
kindness to them.

their flock first.

SHOW YOUR GRATITUDE WHEN
OTHER HELP YOU
V:20 "And where
is he?" he asked his daughters. "Why did you
leave him? Invite him to have something
to eat."
A. When God has been good to you,
return the favor.
1, The daughters of the Priest failed to tell their father that
they had been helped by a stranger.

stay with the man, who gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses in marriage. 22 Zipporah
gave birth to a son, and Moses named him Gershom,b saying, "I have become an alien in a

GOD KEEPS HIS PROMISES
V:23-25. During that
long period, the king of Egypt died. The
Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help
because of their slavery went up to God. 24 God heard their groaning and he remembered
his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. 25 So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.
A. God keeps His promises in
His own time
1. God developed a nation in slavery to be
His people.
2. For 400 years, God forced his nation to
stay together.
3. For 400 years, God force His people
under oppression
to look to Him for deliverance.
B. For 400 years in slavery,
God’s people never lack shelter.

never lack food
to eat.
2. For 400 years under slavery, God’s
people never lack
clothes to ware.
3. We complain about the trouble in our
lives without
giving God thanks for the blessing we
have in the
mist of our troubles.
4. God never takes you to trouble without
bringing
through and out of trouble.
5. It is through the trouble in our lives
that we learn
to trust God.
6. God’s plan for us includes good and bad.
