GOD WANT'S TO HEAR FROM YOU
Luke 18:1-8
THE IMPORTANCE OF PERSONAL PRAYER
1. "And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that
men ought always to pray, and not
to faint."
A. God wants to hear
from you.
1. One of the
objectives of this parable is to teach us the importance of
praying with
faith.
2. God wants to
be involved in the activities of your life
3. God wants you
to rely on Him.
B. The word faint means to lose heart or lose courage.
1. The word faint
also means to behave badly.
2. When a
Christian loses courage, he is behaving badly.
3. Prayer is the
cure for lost of courage.
4. We should pray
expectantly.
5. We should pray
with thanksgiving.
6. We should pray
with assurance.
7. We should pray
without doubt.
8. We should pray
because God commands us to pray.
9. We should pray
continuously.
a.
Continuous prayer eliminate satanic
influences.
b. Continuous
prayer invites the influence of God.
THE EFFECT OF PERSONAL PRAYER
V:2-3. " Saying, There was in a city a judge, which
feared not God, neither regarded man:
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him,
saying, Avenge me of mine adversary."
A. God gives us an example of why we need to pray.
1. The judge, the local authority represent
the world.
2. The widow
represents out need for an intercessor.
3. Life with
Christ is the absents of problems.
4. Life with
Christ guarantees problems.
B. The city judge acknowledged that there is a God, but he
was an enemy to God.
1. God established
local governments to administer justice.
2. God commands us
to follow the rules of the local authority.
3. We must
remember that God is in control of local authorities.
C. Before we go before
local authorities, we should be in prayer.
1. The local
authorities do not have the final answer.
2. God will use
the local authorities to bring favor into our lives
if we remain
faithful.
3. I think God
allows trials and tribulation into our lives so we
can learn
that we can trust Him.
4. The Widow
represents a hopeless situation that God turns into
His glory.
4. The widow
represents the human weakness in our in our lives.
5. When we are
weak, He is strong.
OUR PRAYERS WORKS ON THE HEARTS OF NONE BELIEVERS
V.4-5. "And he would not for a while: but afterward he
said within himself, Though I fear
not God, nor regard
man."
5 Yet because this
widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary
me
A. The "while" is the time God uses to get us
ready for His answer.
1. God uses the
"while" to change attitudes and direction.
2. God uses the
"while" to keep us in prayer
3. God uses the
"while" to strengthen our faith in Him.
B. The widows persistence represents God's command for us to
be persistence in
prayer.
1. We have to
develop courage to endure the "while" time.
2. We must wait,
expecting God to be the solution to our prayers
TRAINING IN EFFECTIVE
PRAYER
V:6-7. " And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge
saith.
7 And shall not God
avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he
bear long with them?"
A. The word "hear" is from the Greek word
"akouo" which means in this context
to understand.
1. We are His
elect and He will answer our prayer in His time.
2. Don't behave
badly and stop praying.
B. God makes promises to all believers.
1. He promises to
make retribution for those He loves
2. One of the
conditions for God to act is continuous prayer.
C. Patience is a virtue that Christians must learn.
1. God is not a
drive through shopping experience.
2. Philippians
4:6-7
Be careful for
nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving
let your requests be made known unto God.
THE ANSWER TO CONTINOUS PRAYER
V:8. " I tell you that he will avenge them speedily.
Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?'
A. Through out the Bible, God restates His promises to give
us confidence that He will
do what He says.
1.Deuteronomy
32:35
Vengeance is
Mine, and retribution, In due time their foot will slip; For the day of
their calamity
is near, And the impending things are hastening upon them.'
2. 2 Chronicles
20:15
This is what
the Lord says to you: 'Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this
vast army. For
the battle is not yours, but God's.
B. Faith is the key
to get God to act on your behalf.
1. James 1:2-3
Consider it
pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds,
because you
know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
2. James 1:6
But when he
asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a
wave of the
sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
3. One of the
things we must learn is to see our troubles with joy.
4. We must learn
not to become discouraged by trials we face.
5. Our troubles
is God opportunity to be glorified.
6. We should
glorify God in our troubles and not wait until
after He has
answered our prayers.
7. A man or
woman of God should find joy in good and the bad
comes their
way.
James 1:6
But when he
