GOD HAS A PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE

 A. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves of what God has done for us.

     1. God has a purpose for what He does.

     2. Whatever God does is in our best interest.

 B. God brought Abraham out of Ur to bless him with a new land.

     1. God has blessings that are just for us.

     2. In order to obtain what God has for us, we have to go where God says go.

     3. We have to go when God says go.

     4. When we have directions from the Lord, we must walk by faith. Gen 15:6

V:8. "And he said, Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?"

  A. God does not tell us how He is going to do what He promised.

     1. If God said it, we should accept it and wait on the blessing.

     2. We have to accept the future blessings of God by faith.

  B. It is ok to ask God for clarification.

      1. We need to get an understanding of God's Word.

      2. If we do not understand God's Word, we should accept it as true and continue to

          seek an understanding.

      3. Faith requires us to accept God's Word as true, even if we do not  get an

          understanding.

          a. God does not have to make sense to us.

          b. His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts.

V:9. "And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon."

    heart of man.

    1. In this text, He uses five different animals to establish and commemorate the

        covenant with Abraham.

      a. The animals used in this covenant with Abraham are the same animals used in

Mosaic Law some 500 hundreds years later.

      b. The Idolatrous nations were compared to bulls, rams and goats ( Psalms 22:13,

Daniel 8:20-21). Israel was compared to doves (Song of Solomon 2:14)

  B. God chose Abraham as the father of the nation of Israel. even through at that time
he  and Sarah had no children.

      animal in two.

1.The agreeing parties would pass (walk) through the cut parts.
